LA Dance Academy

When St. Tammany Parish Schools announced they were closing on March 13th we all became very scared, unsure, and frightened for what this all really meant for us all. It was our utmost importance to follow all the recommendations about cleaning and staying healthy in this global crisis.
Then, Governor Bell announced our mandated quarantine on March 23rd; things changed drastically for the dance community. LADA began Zoom virtual classes. This had its own challenges but our staff was still able to continue our dance education, give individual critiques, and continue to practice our dance choreography.
However, we knew this was NOT a permanent solution and wanted to consider our dance families and what was best for them. With our handbook indicating we are a 10-month education with an annual recital following, we needed to make some changes. On April 30th (end of our 9th month) LADA made the hard decision to postpone our 2019-2020 dance season until July 27th and move our annual recital to August 23, 2020.
How we came to this decision
As of May 15th Louisiana issued we were in phase 1 these are the types of businesses able to open with 25 percent occupancy limits, sanitation guidelines and spacing for physical distancing include:
Knowing that dance studios are not on this list, LADA registered with Open Safely to make sure that we are not jumping the gun and following all procedures mandated by the State and keeping the safety of our families and community as our top priority.
Governor Bell announced that St. Tammany Parish would go into phase 2 as of June 5th and last 21 days The following businesses are allowed to open in phase 2. On 6/22 phase 2 was extended another 28 days.
Please stay connected and we will let everyone know when our Summer Technique Classes, etc will resume
